Gary Lee Osborne, 80, was born May 19, 1942 in Monmouth, Illinois to the late Elmer C. Osborne and Vyola V. Osborne (nee Hall). On May 29, 2022, he passed away peacefully with his wife, Eveleen “Pinky” Osborne by his side.
Although a Midwesterner in his heart, he lived most of his life as a fish-out-of-water New Englander. He embraced all things New England, but especially the Red Sox, Patriots, and being very loud. Gary, who leaves behind two sons, Brian of Agawam, MA, and Jason of Alexandria, VA, was regularly spotted in breakfast nooks throughout Agawam until he and Pinky retired to Chapin, SC in 2019.
Gary also leaves behind his older brother, Larry of Pleasant Hill, IA, and two grandchildren, Brody L. Osborne (24), of West Springfield, MA, and Sydney E. Keene-Osborne (9), of Alexandria, VA. Both Brody and Sydney adored “Grandpa” and will miss his booming voice, terrible jokes, and the ridiculous candy stash he kept in his cupboard.
Although he had many passions (old Westerns and cable provided elevator music being the worst), you could really see his heart when he was with his animals. Dogs and cats, and the occasional waterfowl, all found a home in Gary’s house. He leaves behind two sweet pups, Jojo and Lola, and a cat named Allie, who will miss their daddy terribly – all others predeceased Gary, but few as dear to him as Gidgit and Sophie.
Gary leaves behind many family and friends who will all miss him and who will never forget that booming voice.
A private memorial service will be held at a future date.
