Ingeborg M. Rodgers

Ingeborg Marie Schwendig Rodgers, 91, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Oak Ridge, NC, Monday, December 27, 2021. Born in Manhattan, New York on February 2, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Martha Pauline and George Gustav Schwendig.

She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, John William “Jack” Rodgers, Jr.; sisters, Gretel Schwendig “Tootsie” Pratt of Maine, Delores Schwendig O’Brien of Maine, Charlotte Schwendig O’Brien of Parsippany, New Jersey; brothers, Richard Schwendig of New Jersey, George Schwendig of New Jersey and brother-in-law, Robert Rodgers of Stone Mountain, GA.

Inga and Jack moved to Chapin, SC from New Jersey in 1996 to be closer to their grandchildren and were members of Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church in Chapin. Inga graduated from P.S. 115 in New York City and attended Central Commercial College in downtown New York. She worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for Panray, Kramer Brothers and Pella Windows.

Surviving are her four children, John William “JR” Rodgers III (Cathy) of Chapin, SC, Karen Susan Rodgers Guarino (Keith) of Oak Ridge, NC, David Douglas Rogers of Charlotte, NC and Deborah Ann Rodgers of Somerset, NJ; grandsons, John William “Will” Rodgers IV and Justin Perry “JP” Rodgers of Chapin, SC; sister-in-law, Kathy Rodgers of Boca Raton, FL and twelve nieces and nephews.

Inga was a wonderful homemaker, loved old movies, was an avid reader and great partner of Jack, the love of her life, who she first met at a church social. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Services will be held Sunday, January 2, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church with burial following at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be made to Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church Building Fund, 101 E. Boundary Street, Chapin, SC 29036.
