

CHAPIN - James Wayne Knott, 63, of Chapin, South Carolina passed away on March 17, 2012 in Columbia, South Carolina, after a hard fought battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by family and battled hard to the end.
Wayne was born on May 5, 1948 in Owensboro, Kentucky. He was raised by his parents, Velma and James Martin Knott, with sisters Diane, Lynda, and Pat. He graduated from Brescia College in 1971 with a degree in Accounting, and went on to be CFO of several large corporations across the United States.
More importantly, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Wayne was a picture of courtesy, hospitality, and kindness. He always made you feel at home in his presence. In his spare time, he enjoyed simple pleasures like music, cooking at home, visiting Charleston, and spending time with his loving family. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Chapin.
Wayne is survived by his precious wife, Janet, his children Crissy, Jon, Daniel, Derek and Kevin; and, grandchildren; Hannah, Brandon, and McKayla.
Visitation will be from 7:00-9:00 PM, Monday, March 19, 2012, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Chapin. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 20 at 11:00 AM at the church.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Stephen Madden, Lexington Oncology and his staff, as well as the Progressive Care Unit team of Lexington Medical Center for the professional and dedicated care given to Wayne.
