

CHAPIN – Funeral service for Martha McCartha, 64, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Whiterock with interment to follow in Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
Mrs. McCartha was born May 14, 1951 in Laurens, SC and passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016. She was the daughter of the late, Tommy Elbert Jackson and Marjorie Nell Stokes Jackson; stepmothers, Louise Jackson and Lottie Jackson.
Martha was a loving wife and enjoyed her grandchildren and she was an avid Clemson fan.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, J. Howard McCartha of Chapin; children, Howard Kenneth McCartha of Cayce, James Marvin McCartha, of Chapin, Cynthia Shaner (Charles) of Lexington; proud grandmother “Ma Ma” to Monica McCartha, Brandi Shaner, Mckala Shaner, Jacob and Jackson Pender; great-grandchild, Carter Ewell Shaner; Godson, Chuck Haviland; sister, Frances Bond of Lincolnville; brothers, Ricky Barker of Newberry and Larry Barker (Susie) of Greenwood. She is preceded in death by a son, James Thomas Scott McCartha.
