First Sergeant West was retired from the United States Army after 22 years of service, where he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart along with many other awards and accommodations for his valor.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret West of Chapin, SC; son, Patrick Lee West, Jr. “Rick” of Columbia, SC; daughters, Deborah M. Huff of Chapin, SC, Susan Renea Wagner of Mooresville, NC, Shantelle L. Bennett and husband, Aaron of Chapin, SC; grandchildren, Morgan Cobb (Jacob), Chad and Chandler Huff, Charlie and Clayton Wagner, Colby and Molly Margaret Bennett; great grandson, Bennett; sisters, Janice Tart of Raleigh, NC and Linda Thornton of Goldsboro, NC.
Mr. West was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Edith West; brother, Thomas West.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 29, 2021, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229.
