
CHAPIN - Patsy Comalander Russell, 76, wife of Harvey L. Russell passed away Monday, February 2, 2015. She was born on April 9, 1938 in Chapin, South Carolina, to the late Leon B. and Sara Epting Comalander. Patsy retired from Lexington-Richland School District 5 where she worked in the school’s lunch program for 30 years. She was fondly called “Aunt Pat” by most of the children.
As a lifetime member of Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, Patsy served and participated in numerous committees and activities; especially important to her was the service she provided on the Bereaved Family Committee and Care Givers Team. She also enjoyed visiting the elderly where on many occasions she was accompanied by her nephew, Brian.
Patsy was a Charter Member of the Little Mountain Chapter #276 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Patsy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harvey Russell of Chapin; son, Richard Wayne “Ricky” (Amy); daughter, Sarah Deborah; (“Abby”- a very special chocolate Labrador Retriever); grandson, Jessie Russell and two step-grandchildren, LeAnna and Jacob Cockrell. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Fulmer (Harvey); brothers, Donald Comalander (Helen) and Stephen Comalander (Debrah); sister-in-law, Mary Epting and brother-in-law, Calvin “Butch” Russell (Belinda). The extended family includes loving nieces, nephews and their families.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, Chapin, SC. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the churches cemetery.

The family is grateful to Dr. Carol Pinner, Mae Sultan, Lavonya Brown and numerous members of the Tri-County Hospice Team for their dedicated home care during Patsy’s illness.
Patsy had written much of her funeral plans including the fact that those attending the service should feel free to dress casually. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
