Ruth Seay Slice

CHAPIN –A funeral service for Ruth Seay Slice, 87, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014 at St. Jacobs Lutheran Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Mrs. Slice can be viewed from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. Pallbearers are, Lee Wessinger, Brad White, Jonathan Parr, Jonathan Adams, Robert Cumalander and Russell Slice. Memorials may be made to the St. Jacobs Lutheran Church Building Fund or Agape Hospice House, 141 Stone Ridge Dr., Columbia, SC 29210.

Mrs. Slice was born December 6, 1926 in Lexington, SC and passed away Monday, September 1, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Matthew Seay and Mildred Mae Derrick Seay. Mrs. Slice owned and operated Slice’s Mercantile Store with her husband in Hilton for 36 years. She loved gardening and crocheting

Surviving are her daughters, Debra Barrett (Sam) of Chapin and Marilyn Rawls (Terry) of Pomaria; grandchildren, Susan B. Wessinger (Lee), Laura B. White (Brad), LeAnne R. Parr (Jonathan) and Sharon Rawls; five great-grandchildren and brother, Murray G. Seay of Lexington. She is predeceased by her husband, G. Melvin Slice; sisters, Eunice Cumalander and Eva Mae Slice.
