

Paul Emerson Carte, Jr., "Pepper", of Charleston passed away peacefully at home on June 30. Paul was born in Coshocton , OH, moved to Charleston in his youth, graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School, where he excelled in both academics and sports. He attended West Liberty University and West Virginia University. He spent the majority of his professional career In the insurance industry as an agent for Connecticut General Life Insurance in Louisville, KY and as an agent for New England Life Insurance Company in Charleston. Later, he co-owned and operated Yesteryear Toy Company with his wife Marcy. Paul was a committed Christian, an avid golfer, a loyal WVU fan, and active in the Kanawha County Chapter of West Virginians for Life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Emerson Carte and Hazel Katherine Bower Carte, and his first wife, Donna Jo Petry Carte. He is survived by his wife, Marcy Marble Carte, his daughter, Timbera Carte Wilcox, his sons, Paul Emerson Carte III, "Chip" (Krista), Isaiah Jackson Carte, his grandchildren Petry, Caroline and Emma Carte, Sam and Jack Wilcox, as well by his sister, Dahris Carte Lawrence (Don). Funeral services will be 6pm Monday, July 6, 2015 at Wilson Funeral Home, 420 Lee St. West. Visitation is from 5-6 pm Monday at the funeral home.
