

Mr. Harrison, of Charlotte, died at Sharon Towers on September 24, 2011 at the age of 68. He was born August 27, 1943 to Lloyd Hyman and Mary Virginia Koonce Harrison in Norfolk, Virginia.
Mr. Harrison is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lloyd H. Harrison; a sister, Henrietta Rowe; and his business partner, Albert W. Smith. He is survived by two nephews, Lloyd H. Harrison, Jr. of Charlotte, and Alton Rowe (Janis) of Waynesville, NC; four nieces, Mary Lee Rowe of Ayden, NC, Mary Beth Rhoades (David) of Raleigh, NC, Kathy McMillan of Rincon, GA, and Jane Schnably (Mark) of Winston-Salem, NC; and many great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins.
Mr. Harrison graduated from Ahoskie High School and East Carolina University with an A.B. Degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, he taught at Wingate University as a Professor of Accounting from 1966 to 1970. Mr. Harrison then moved to Greensboro, NC to further his accounting career at Western Electric from 1970 to 1974. Later, from 1975 to 1983, he was Manager of Systems and Procedures in The Office of Business Affairs at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
In 1984, Mr. Harrison and his business partner, Albert W. Smith, started their own company, Al Smith Customs Brokers, Inc. Mr. Harrison was President of the company until 2008. He was very active in the importing community for twenty-four years. Mr. Harrison was a member of the Charlotte World Trade Association and International Freight Forwarders Customs Brokers Association of Charlotte.
Mr. Harrison was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, NC, Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, and Caldwell Memorial Presbyterian Church.
After internment at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, a memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Caldwell Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Reverend John Cleghorn officiating.
The family will receive friends at Harry and Bryant Company, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011.
