Alice Marie Barbee

Alice was born on February 28, 1951, in Meadville, PA, to the late Peter Bortnick and Mary Melnik Bortnick. She was a graduate of Conneaut Valley High School, Conneautville, PA and Edinboro University, Edinboro, PA. She worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years retiring in 2013.

Alice is survived by her three daughters: Kelli Olszewski (Andrew) of Concord, NC; Tricia Pearson, Pineville, NC; and Michele McBride, Tulsa, OK. Alice had 8 grandchildren: Andrew, Lauren and Alexandria Olszewski; McKinley Pearson; Gavyn Kilminster; Rachel, Carson and Jake Thompson and 1 great grandson, Kannon Kilminster. She is also survived by her siblings: Peter Bortnick, James Bortnick, Donald Bortnick and Doreen Nelson along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Bobby Barbee, a grandson, Charles Thomas Pearson, Jr., and three brothers: David Bortnick, Larry Bortnick and William Bortnick.

Alice was a faithful member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Lancaster. She had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She loved the beach and had a second home in Hilton Head Island, SC, where she also attended Holy Family Catholic Church while there. She was an avid reader and loved walking, sewing and history, but most of all enjoyed her grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at McEwen Funeral Service - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 9:00 - 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 7095 Waxhaw Highway, Lancaster, SC, at noon.

In lieu of flowers, you may donate to a charity of your choice or to Agape Care South Carolina, Lancaster or to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
