

Alicia Jeanette Steele, age 79, passed away January 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on November 17, 1946, in Abingdon, Virginia, to the late John David Tucker and Nadine Barrett Tucker.
Alicia moved with her family to Charlotte, North Carolina, at an early age, where she later graduated from Garinger High School. On June 14, 1964, she married the love of her life, Robert “Ted” Steele. Together they built a beautiful life, first in Charlotte, then in Matthews, North Carolina, before settling in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, in 2007.
Alicia will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, loyal sister, and cherished friend to many. She had a special gift for creating a warm and welcoming home where family gathered, laughter was shared, and precious memories were made—memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert “Ted” Steele Sr.; her daughter, Kim Steele (Richard) of Matthews, North Carolina; her son, Robert Steele Jr. (Kendra) of Lexington, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Kayla, Kealand, Ella, Emma, and Leah; and her great-grandchildren, Brennan, Kylie, and Reid. She is also survived by her sisters, Nancy, Debbie, and Joele; and her brother, David.
Alicia was preceded in death by her brother, Randy Tucker.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family will be forever cherished.
