

Alonso Donald Faulkner passed away Friday, August 25, 2017, at his home in Sharon Towers after a brief illness. Born on January 6, 1929 in Matthews, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Alonso Pressley Faulkner and Lulabelle Killough Faulkner. Don graduated from Central High School in Charlotte, and furthered his education at Erskine College where he played football. He served two years with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Until his retirement Don was an account executive with Waddell and Reed. Being a life-long sportsman, Don worked in Pop Warner football with the Optimist Club, and was a member of the Charlotte Touchdown Club. Being an avid golfer, he was a founding member of the Cedarwood Golf Club. He and his first wife, Sandra Bennick were also founding members of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church where Don was an Elder, and very active in Sunday School, the Men’s Prayer Group, and in the annual charity golf tournament. Upon moving to Sharon Towers, after Sandra’s death, he met and married Myra Harris until her death several years ago. Surviving are Don’s cousins Richard Ellis Faulkner and wife, Pat; and Ronald Van Faulkner, and wife, Kay.
A service to celebrate Don’s life will be held Thursday, September 7, at 11:00 am at The Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. A private interment in the columbarium at Good Shepherd will be held before the service.
