Andrew William Jackson Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andrew William Jackson, Jr., who transitioned peacefully on September 28, 2023. He was born on April 18, 1947 in Atlanta, GA, a son of the late Vivian and Andrew William Jackson, Sr.

Andy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 31 years, Joan Tarleton Jackson. He is survived by his proud son and devoted daughter-in-law, along with his three wonderful grandsons, who were his absolute joy.

Andy was the epitome of humility, kindness, and generosity. His gentle demeanor and selfless nature were felt by everyone who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. With an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, he found solace in the pages of countless books and encouraged that love in his grandsons.

He served honorably in the U.S. Army, with two years of active duty followed by four years in the U.S. Army Reserves. His service included a one-year tour in the Pacific, building upon his dedication and resilience. Andy's disciplined approach during his military tenure reflected his commitment to duty and community, attributes that carried through later in his professional and personal life. He enjoyed a nearly four-decade career with Duke Energy, lending his knowledge and expertise at Catawba Nuclear Station as a professional mechanical engineer.

Andy's soft-spoken wisdom, enduring patience, and kindness enriched the lives of his friends, family, and colleagues. He will be deeply missed, but his indelible mark on the hearts of those he loved will be remembered forever.

We invite those whose lives were touched by Andy to share stories and reminisce, not with a heavy heart, but with the same joy and kindness he brought into our lives.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Home-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00-12:45 pm prior to the service.
