Ann Carlyle Fletcher

Born June 12, 1936 in Burlington, NC, she was a daughter of the late Dr. John Bethune Carlyle and Grace Elder Carlyle. Sissy attended Old Wake Forest College and graduated from UNC Greensboro with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She taught first grade in Charlotte, was an avid bridge player and loved golf. She was a member of the Legal Auxiliary, Friends of the Mint Museum and Myers Park Baptist Church.

Mrs. Fletcher is survived by her loving husband Francis Marion Fletcher, Jr.; a daughter Cathy Chamberlain, her husband Jeffrey, and their children John Fletcher, Abigail Grace and Maxwell Clark of Chicago, IL; and her daughter Elizabeth O'Herron, her husband William Porter, Jr., and their children Susana Carlyle and William Porter III of Beaufort, SC. Also surviving are a sister Rebecca Yarborough and her husband Wiley of Winston-Salem; cousins Mary Irving Campbell of Charlotte and Elizabeth Byerly of Asheville; and niece Alice McCall of Apex.

A memorial service will be held at the Southminster Retirement Community, 8919 Park Road in Charlotte on Tuesday, October 6th at 11:00 am followed by a reception. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington at 3:30 pm.
