

Mrs. Woolf, 84, of Charlotte, NC, died Thursday, April 14, 2011. She was born August 28, 1926 in Forest City, NC. Mrs. Woolf grew up in South Carolina, graduating from high school in 1943 in Bennettsville, and went on to graduate from the University of South Carolina in 1946.
While at USC, she met her husband, Glenn Woolf, a Navy ROTC student. After her graduation and his receiving his commission, they were married in Seattle in November, 1946. Following her husband’s separation from the Navy, they lived in Atlanta, Knoxville and Memphis while he completed his graduate work. They moved to Charlotte in 1962.
Mrs. Woolf was a loving wife and mother. She had many interests, including her dogs, travel, genealogy, and involvement in a number of community organizations. Among those were the American Association of University Women, Charity League of Charlotte, the Women’s Symphony Association, Friends of the Opera, and the Olde Meck Genealogical Society.
Survivors in addition to her husband, Dr. Glenn Woolf, are son, Steve Woolf and wife Karen; daughter, Glenda Woolf and husband Jim Dunn; son, Mark Woolf and wife Kathleen; six grandchildren, Libby Woolf, Samuel Hay, Rachel Hay, James Woolf, Daniel Hay and Brad Woolf; her brother, Bryant Harrill; many nieces and nephews; and “adopted” daughters, Maria Scott from Venezuela, and Larn Phillips from Taiwan. She also leaves behind her two dogs, Angie and Lacey.
In lieu of a formal service, the family invites friends for a visitation and sharing of memories from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16th at Harry and Bryant Company, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte.
The family would like to extend a special a thank you to Hospice & Palliative Care-Charlotte Region and Emeritus at Eastover for their kind and attentive care of Mrs. Woolf.
