

She graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia as a dental hygienist.
Barbara married Josef Sklut of Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1953 and they settled in Greensboro until moving to Charlotte in 1955.
Barbara was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, needlepoint, mahjong and was an avid reader. She was fun loving, full of life and loved her family dearly. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joe Sklut and is survived by her children, Wendy Kornegay (Jeff) of Charlotte, Eric Sklut (Lori) of Charlotte; grandchildren, Jason Kaplan (Jill) of Atlanta, Rachel Kaplan (Ned) of Charlotte, Blair Goldsmith (Jeff) of Charlotte, Haley Ben David (Gavriel) of Charlotte, and Mason Sklut (Bashia) of Charlotte. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jake, Ben, and Ellie Kaplan, and Oliver and Jordan Goldsmith and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Waltonwood of Cotswold for their care the last several years along with Barbara’s caregiver, Sharon Shreve, who provided wonderful care and friendship.
The funeral will be held graveside at the Hebrew Cemetery of Charlotte on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 2 pm.
