A lifelong Charlottean, Ms. Carpenter was born December 30, 1948, a daughter of the late Lewis Morgan Wilson and Peggy Jo Drum Wilson. She attended West Mecklenburg High School and was employed for 27 years with Caraustar as an inspector.
She is remembered for her love of cooking and gardening and as a very giving person who, even during her illness, did not want to take from anyone.
Ms. Carpenter’s family includes her children, Jeffery Allen Carpenter (Terri) of Tega Cay, SC, Scott Carpenter (Amber) of Indian Trail, NC and Christy Carpenter Bjornson (Douglas) of Charlotte; and seven grandchildren, Matthew Carpenter, Caden Carpenter, Ben Carpenter, Seth Bjornson, Logan Faith Bjornson, Stephanie Bjornson and Jordan Bjornson; as well as four sisters, Sandra Lee Hunter of Concord, Margaret Wilson Miller, Roberta Wilson Fincher and Marie Annette Rogers, all of Charlotte; and two brothers, Lewis Roger Wilson of Triangle, NC and Joseph Lansing Wilson of Mt. Holly.
A service to celebrate Ms. Carpenter’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7th in the chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home with Mr. Dennis Sult officiating. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
