Bernard Joseph Lagania (80) passed into eternity on November 15, 2019. He was born on May 14, 1939 in Pennsylvania to the late Andrew Lagania and Elizabeth Chockota Lagania. Bernie grew up in Ohio then served proudly in the United States Marine Corps. He then married his high school sweetheart, Susan Whittingslow Lagania in 1960 and they raised five children.
Bernie was known for both his unique sense of humor and great work ethic, which showed at home as well as in his work as an insurance adjuster. Even into retirement, Bernie continued to work hard in part time employment and pursuit of educational interests as well as various personal ministries. He and his wife also served faithfully and lovingly at St Luke Catholic Church in Mint Hill, NC.
Bernie was known for his lifelong love of music and participated in the church choir and various musical groups including the most recent, "Still Standing". He would often be seen with a guitar in his hand (self-taught) playing for his wife and family and enjoying time at karaoke.
Bernie's devotion to his wife continued as he cared for her throughout her battle with Alzheimer's disease. Though very challenging, Bernie faced even this trial with great faith that only got stronger as he began facing his own recent health concerns.
Bernie is preceded in death by his adoring wife Sue; daughter Donna Meyers and eight siblings. He is survived by his children Mike Lagania, Kim Lagania, Sharon Crisp, Renee Rubner; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
