Betty Jane was born October 18, 1934, in Biscoe, NC, to Robert and Ruth Jackson. At age 17, she moved to Charlotte to attend and later graduate from Presbyterian School of Nursing, and then worked at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte as a nurse until leaving to stay home and raise her family. Betty Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Mason M. Dunlap, in 2006.
Betty Jane and Mason were members of Avondale Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. Betty Jane is loved and remembered warmly for her love of God, constant faith and positive spirit, and as a role model for family and friends as a personification of strength and selflessness. Friends and family will always remember the way she patiently and lovingly made each person feel that they were special and important.
