Betty Sue Green Batey

Mrs. Batey, 79, of Charlotte, went to be with her Lord January 26, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on April 15, 1936 in Anniston Alabama.

A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, she worked as a secretary for many years in the corporate world, and as a homemaker. She was a member of many churches over the years, as she was a devout Christian. She was a gifted singer and piano player. Mrs. Batey was blessed with a beautiful personality that surrounded her with many friends. And to them, the family expresses their sincere thanks for their loving support.

She is survived by one son, James Dwane Batey, daughter, Susan and husband Ron Goodman; one granddaughter, Kristen Leigh Goodman; two sisters, Ozelle Robinson of Talladega, Alabama and Sylvia Willis of Kings Mountain, NC; and one brother, Donald Green of Tacoma, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Grover F Batey, parents Earl and Vincie Green, grandson Gregory Daniel Goodman, four brothers and one sister.

Services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Statesville Road Baptist Church, Reverend Robert Shaw officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00am at the church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
