

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Heywood Weeks. She is survived by her children, Betsy Weeks Shaw and Charles “Chuck” Heywood Weeks, son-in-law, Reginald Shaw and daughter-in-law, Margaret Weeks. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Kristen Shaw Morrison (Jeff), Emily Weeks, David Shaw and Charlie Weeks (Brooke) and three great-grandchildren, Daniel, Eliana and Hayes. She is also survived by her brother, William C. Ward, Jr. and sister-in-law, Beverly Ward.
Betty’s life was spent in Great Falls, SC, Wilmington, NC, Lake Norman, and in Charlotte. She attended Central High School in Charlotte, Charlotte Business School and Queens College, Charlotte. While in Wilmington, she served as President of the United Methodist Women and received the United Methodist Women’s Lifetime Service Award. From 1977-1987 she worked as business manager of First United Methodist Church in Charlotte.
Betty was much loved by her family for her sweet, caring personality. Her first love was her family and the wonderful times spent together, especially at the beach. She started the tradition of a beach family reunion which was observed for forty years.
Mrs. Weeks was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at the Providence United Methodist Chapel, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm with the Reverend William Jeffries officiating.
The family would like to thank Brookdale South Charlotte and Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte for their loving care of Mrs. Weeks during her final days.
