Mr. Lawing was born in Lincoln County, North Carolina, to Clara Irene Lawing and Ernest Wilburn Lawing. The family later moved to Mt. Holly, North Carolina, then to Kings Mountain, North Carolina where at the age of 14, Bobby met and later married his beloved wife of 72years, Peggy.
Bob served in the Korean war as a radio operator, then returned home to earn an Associate Degree from Gaston College. He would later move to Florence, SC, to work at television station WBTW until 1966 when he moved to Charlotte, NC. He worked for 40 years in Charlotte as a broadcast engineer at WBTV until his retirement.
Bobby had a strong faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and was a faithful member of Park Road Moravian Church, now called Peace Moravian Church, for over 30 years.
He loved to figure out how things work, and always read the "fine print" of technical manuals and instructions. If something needed fixing, he could almost always find a way to repair it, and he passed that skill along to his son. Michael. His daughter looked upon him as her "rescuer" from all kinds of scrapes and mishaps.
Mr. Lawing is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Beverly Lawing, and son Michael Lawing, and his daughter in law Nicole Lawing,
