Bobby's early years were spent in Charlotte, where he graduated from Central High School, now the site of CPCC. His career as a land surveyor spanned many years in Mecklenburg and the surrounding counties, during which he successfully ran his own business for over 30 years. His resilience and dedication to his work were evident, and he instilled the values of hard work and financial discipline in those around him.
Bobby was married to Ann Boggs Raye for 59 years until her passing in 2016. Together, they raised three sons: Jeffrey, who predeceased him, David, (Susan), and Norman. Bobby was also a loving grandfather to Candayce, (Nick); Shelby, (Justin); and Amy, (Jose). He was blessed with six great-grandchildren.
Bobby had a passion for caring for animals, particularly chickens, peacocks, turkeys, and other fowl.
A long-standing member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC, Bobby was committed to his community, offering his time and resources to those in need. His generosity extended beyond his family, touching the lives of many.
