Bryant Morris Petteway, 27, of Indian Trail, NC was called home to his eternal resting place on Monday, October 26, 2015 after a courageous battle with Lymphoma Cancer. Bryant was the last child born to Loretta Faye Petteway and Linwood Morris Petteway in Jacksonville, NC on November 6, 1987.
Bryant was raised on his family’s land in Richlands, NC. He spent most of his time as a child working beside his father, uncles, and grandfather on the family’s farm. He enjoyed tending to the animals, cropping, and building things with his hands. As an adult Bryant loved to reminisce about the days on the farm, and tell of the stories his grandfather shared with him throughout the years. Bryant was always so thankful for his upbringing that instilled in him a strong work ethic. He was no stranger to hard work.
Bryant was a proud graduate of Jacksonville High School, class of 2005. During his tenure in high school, Bryant played the trumpet in the band and was also a member of the track team. In addition, Bryant also played both junior and varsity football for the Jacksonville Cardinals. In 2007, Bryant moved to Indian Trail, NC to attend school at Central Piedmont Community College. Thereafter, Bryant attended ITT Technical Institute, where he received an Associate Applied Science degree in Computer Network Systems and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Information Systems Security.
After accepting his first job in the field of technology, Bryant met the love of his life, Raechelle, at a company picnic in the fall of 2012. Their friendship quickly turned into a love that was inseparable and they were married on February, 23, 2013. While Bryant and Raechelle did not have children, they adored their many nieces and nephews and loved them as their own.
Bryant received his early Christian foundation from his family church, Word of Faith in Jacksonville, NC. During him and Raechelle’s courtship he came to accept Christ into his life in August 2012 and made Central Church of God his church home. He enjoyed volunteering with the video production ministry, and attending bible study up until he became ill. Bryant loved the Lord and lived a life of faith and love.
Bryant had a special interest in airplanes and flying after being introduced to the experience by his father at an early age. He began flying on his own at the age of eight years old, and by his adult years he had flown all over the country from one airport to the next. Bryant has always had a love for technology and was known as the “electronic wiz” of the family. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and took joy in planning family vacations. Bryant has always been an avid football fan and was committed to his Carolina Panthers win or lose!
People that knew Bryant from his early beginnings and up until his time of death always considered him to be a good guy. Bryant was known to be a kind, loving, thoughtful and gentle man. He will always be remembered for his inviting eyes, big warm smile and acts of kindness. He effortlessly displayed the love of Christ to so many that crossed his path during his life.
