Calvin Cooper

Mr. Cooper, age 87, of Charlotte, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 9, 2015. Born January 30, 1928 in Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Samuel Jefferson “Jeff” Cooper and Daisy Edwards Cooper. Mr. Cooper was a Christian and a long-time member of Northside Baptist Church. He was married to Jewell Brown Cooper for 62 years and dedicated his life to his wife and his Lord. A paint contractor by trade, he also enjoyed helping his wife with her projects.

The service to celebrate the life of Calvin Cooper will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, November 11th at McEwen Funeral Service - Derita Chapel with Reverend Steven Goode, officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Jewell; a brother, Walter Cooper and wife, Peggy, of Cherryville; four sisters, Flora Briggs of Cherryville, Volena Brittian of Lawndale, Linda Brown and husband, Mickey, of Vail and Daisy Peterson; sister-in-law, Evelyn Cooper of Cherryville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Cooper.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers and hospice for their compassionate care.
