

Carl Michael Hardin, a devoted and hard-working man, passed away on January 6, 2026, at the age of 77. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on March 22, 1948, Carl was a kind-hearted and selfless individual who touched the lives of many with his thoughtful and humorous nature.
In 1969, Carl moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, to be closer to his wife's family where he began his career with The Ray Company. Carl dedicated 56 years of service to The Ray Company as a field superintendent and shop foreman. In 2009, he was recognized by the Carolinas Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association as the most valued employee in North Carolina, a testament to his loyalty and dedication.
He is survived by his daughter, Shelby Hardin, and grandchildren Christian, Skye, Zoey, and Serynitie Hardin, Sierrah Moore, and Benjamin Chlopek, as well as great-grandchildren Midnyte Hardin, Tristyn Miranda, and Theo Moore. His brother, Steve Hardin, and sisters Shirley Watts, Peggy Sams, and Christine Smith also survive him. He was preceded in death by his daughters Sheilah Chlopek and her mother Martha Hardin, and daughters Rachel and Laura Hardin and their mother Stephanie Hardin. His parents, Carl Hardin and Ruth Bishop, and brother Ronald Hardin also predeceased him.
Carl had a passion for working in the yard, enjoying the simple pleasures of cutting grass, gardening and being outside. He was an avid fan of Western movies and TV shows, particularly enjoying "Gunsmoke," "Cheyenne," and John Wayne films. He also enjoyed watching Sunday football games and Nascar races. In his younger years Carl loved a good golf match.
A devoted father and grandfather, Carl was known for his willingness to do anything for those he loved. He had a unique way of greeting people with a cheerful "Hey Bub" and imparted a 'can-do spirit' to his family, teaching them that no problem was insurmountable.
Mike, as he was affectionately known, is now exploring new horizons, leaving behind a blueprint of love, integrity, and unwavering dedication that his family and friends will follow forever. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will never be forgotten. "Bub," you may be gone from our sight, but you will never be gone from our hearts.
