

After completing his military service, he graduated from the International Business School in Copenhagen. Following graduation, he joined Plumrose, Trading Co., and worked in the United Kingdom selling meat and products to supermarkets.
In 1960, he came to New York with orders to develop new products and increase sales and distribution in the U.S. In 1966, he moved to Charlotte to establish his own Food Brokerage Business, which he ran for 30 years. He became an American citizen in 1973 and followed the political process until the end. He and his wife Azu traveled extensively over the years to Europe and South America, and he enjoyed playing golf with his group at Carmel Country Club and Sarasota Golf Club.
Survivors include his loving wife, Azu; a son, Steen Jorgensen, daughter-in-law, Tina Jorgensen and grandsons, Marcus, Daniel and Jonas. Carl is also survived by his sisters, Karen Lisbeth Rasmussen (Vagn) and Bodil Rosenmeyer and their children and grandchildren; by his niece/daughter, Claudia Harthan and her husband Danny, their daughters, Gigi and Gabi; also by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews in Asuncion, Paraguay, where he spent many happy times with his wife and her family.
A memorial service to commemorate Carl's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 13 in the Chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Jorgensen's memory to the Salvation Army or American Heart Association.
