

Mr. Carl Clinton Morrison, 90, passed away Wednesday, March 13th, 2013, at Carolina Medical Center-Union. He was born September 22, 1922 in Gastonia, NC to the late Horace Monroe and Lula (Whitesides) Morrison. Carl is survived by his loving wife, of almost 66 years, Mildred Campbell Morrison. He is survived by their two daughters Kathryn Morrison Burrows (Robert) and Leslie Morrison Smith (Zack). He was the proud grandfather of two granddaughters: Jacqueline de la Paz and Jill Mears, two grandsons Clinton Smith and Austin Smith and three great grandchildren, Bradley, Abigail, and Madison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, J.B. Morrison, and his sister Elmina (Morrison) Sutton. Carl grew up in Gastonia. He honorably served our country during World War II as a co-pilot in the US Army Air Corps. After the war, he graduated from Kings Business College where he met the love of his life, Mildred. He retired as a supervisor from the U.S. Post office in Charlotte after 31 years. Carl was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was loved by many and never met a stranger. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help others. Carl loved fishing and spent many years traveling to the coast with good friends for fishing and fellowship. Carl was a longtime member of Hickory Grove Presbyterian Church where he served as both deacon and elder. He was most recently a member of Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church. A funeral service to celebrate Carl's life will be held 12:00 pm, Monday, March 18, 2013 at Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ron Tippens officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Sharon Memorial Park following the service.
