It was truly a priviledge to have known Carl Nance.  He was a man of integrity and Godly character. His work ethic was second to none.  We spent many hours together in difficult disaster circumstances and I count each moment serving with him as a blessing.

Carl was one of the finest people I have ever known. He gave of himself freely  to anyone in need and will be missed by everyone that had the opportunity to know him.

Carl was a wonderful man.  He served the Lord with a passion, and wouldn't have traded it for anything.  He will be greatly missed.

My deepest heartfelt thoughts are with you Betty and your family. You had a wounderful Man and you are a Special Lady.We loved Carl and you so much. You were special to Mama Carter. Remember? Carl will be missed, but you and others have good memories. God Bless you in the days ahead.

I am praying for the Nance family this Monday afternoon even as you gather for the funeral.  To all of Carl's family:  I have been blessed many times during the past years to work with Carl and Betty through Southern Baptists volunteer projects.  We often crossed paths in various DR responses.  But nothing was more meaningful than the many weeks we spent serving with Carl and Betty in the Bronx, NY, where the North American Mission Board was painting a large middle school building as a pilot project.  Carl and Betty spent countless hours assistiing my late wife, Permelia, and me in that huge project.  Their faithful and tireless service was such an inspiration to us as we worked together, 'lived' together at the same hotel, shared every meal, and worked with dozens of other volunteers.  There is a unique joy in my heart this afternoon as the thought that Carl and Permelia are together in our Father's presence fully celebrating His grace and mercy, and perhaps reminiscing past experiences whether in NY or on the Gulf coast - to God be glory for His peace!

I had the pleasure of meeting Carl, Betty and Jackie during the brief time that I attended Derita Baptist.  I remember him as a man who truly had a heart for people.   I'm saddened at his passing.  My sympathies go out to his family, his friends, and the many people he touched with his relief work over the years.

Betty:
The twinkle in his eye, seeing him ride his tractor around the yard, the stacks of wood...the BEST neighbor anyone could ever ask for----us mere mortals have lost a wonderful man, but the heavens are singing as they gain one of the greatest.  Matthew and I are here for you for whatever you need.

I will always remember Carl's smile and his love for helping others. He will be greatly missed.You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I felt privileged to have met Mr. Nance on several occasions, and to briefly know him.  I think he was a fine man, and a good example to anyone who had the good fortune to know him.  My sincerest condolences to his family.

Carl was one of those men, who I met through Disaster Relief, who impacted my life in a very positive way. He was a friend who loved helping others. We will miss him.

Betty, You know Carl was so special to me.  I always looked forward to the Chicken Fry so he could tell me a joke and I could rub his fuzzy hair.  Even though we miss him, I have to praise God that Carl is in His presence and is no longer sick.  He has probably already built many handicap ramps...Dad sure loved him and we will rejoice when we see him again in Heaven.

Carl's smile and methodical, deliberate movements brought comfort and compassion to many people. He was a dedicated and committed Christian that lived his life to help others. I am a better person for knowing him. 
NC Baptist Men is thankful for his work over the years. Not only did he help many people in need but he inspired many in volunteer missions work.

For the little time that i've known Carl,and Betty i felt they  are sincerely the best of how a true christian should be.I believe Carl was happier going home to be with his father than in the hospital,and not able to get up and do his daily routines. He will be truely missed by alot ,but his spirit will always be with us all.

I am so sorry to hear about Carl. I have such fond memories of him, Terry and Allen when they were together at Derita VFD. Allen loved him very much. May the Lord hold your family close and sustain you in the days to come.

My deepest condolences to you all. Carl was one of the finest men that I ever met. He was a dear friend to my Father and his loss is heavens gain. Although the time I spent with him was brief, his smile, his faith and his loyalty to a friend is something that has stayed with me.

May God hold you all close through this difficult time. I find it ironic that Carl will be put to rest on the day that my Father passed. As my Father loved Carl as much as he did. My love to Betty and Terry and the entire Nance Family.

Carl was a great man and he will be missed and remembered by every life he touched on this Earth.
