Glenn, 77, died at Atrium Health in Pineville, N.C on August 29, 2020. He was born in Gulfport, MS on April 8, 1943. He was the son of the late Charlie and Rhounette Harrelson. Glenn loved Jesus, his family, his friends, hunting and fishing. He was happy and enjoyed life!
Following graduation from Winyah High School in Georgetown, SC, he attended Spartanburg Methodist College for 2 years. He graduated from Officers Candidate School with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was a proud Army Ranger. He served as President of N.C. Ducks Unlimited, and President and Chairman of the Board of the National Wild Turkey Federation.
He was a loyal member of Sharon United Methodist Church for over 40 years, and taught Children’s Sunday School for many years. He and his wife, Brenda, were Church Youth Counselors in Georgia, Florida, and Charlotte.
Glenn was a former co-owner of USI Equipment Company of Charlotte. He retired as Vice President of Business Development and Public Relations at Pike Energy. Glenn was also a Mason.
Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Brenda Oliver Harrelson; his loving son, Chad Harrelson (Sabra); loving daughter Carrie Harrelson Lewis (Mike) and his beloved grandson Caleb; Sister-In-Law Marie O. Welborn, Brother- In-Law Bill Mobley; his nieces and nephews, Amanda Mobley, Katie, Noel, Trey, Laura, and Suzanne Gowan, Nancy, Todd, Jonathan and Ryan Ford; Jennifer, Steve, Drew and Hannah Campbell. Also, his cousins that he adored.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his precious son, Dave Jeffery Harrelson; his In-Laws, Paul and Jimmie Sue Oliver; Brother, Charles Harrelson; niece, Amy Welborn; Brother-In-Law, Mac Welborn; Sister –In-Law, Paula O. Mobley.
A graveside service will be held at Dillard Funeral Home at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2410 John Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, SC 29671 on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 2:00p.m.
Glenn will be buried beside his son Dave.
