Carol Stillman passed away 2/28/2026 when all the planets aligned. Carol was a very wonderful person to everyone she met with an indomitable spirit and endless heart She passed away leaving a legacy of resilience and radical kindness. A mother of 4 children, her 3 daughters, Terry (deceased), Caron, Tracey, and, of course, her youngest boy, Ryan, the only child she had with her loving husband Fred. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a mom to all who came her way, becoming a foster parent to over 20 children whose lives changed because of Carol. Many of those children she took in went on to play integral roles in shaping or future of the world we live in today. All the kids that were a part of mom's life were always the benefit of great Disney vacations for the whole family, that is, of course, if your grades were kept up in school.
She had a rough childhood, not only from being born on Christmas day in 1937 during the war era, but also due to many medical complications that had her in the hospital for almost 7 years of her childhood. Later in life, she went through another round of medical recovery when she received two prosthetic knee replacements. Whatever came mommas’ way, she would overcome. That's just who she was. Her siblings, when they were still alive, told the funniest stories about her in her childhood and how she always wanted to make sure everyone was happy.
Carol is now in the arms of her husband Fred who left us in 2003. Her most memorable years that she loved to talk about were the years with her Fred. Fred and Wilma, if you were around the house as kids. They were a beautiful couple that dedicated their lives to everyone that came into their lives. They were also the cutest couple and now once again in each other’s arms.
She had the chance to live on both the East and West Coasts; however, some of her most notable years were the last 15 she spent with her son, Ryan, and her son-in-law, Donald, in Charlotte, NC. While diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and severe pneumonia upon arrival almost 15 years ago, she beat all the odds by surviving continued mental and physical decline. She continued to enjoy all the people that would join us at the dinner table and hear Mom's stories and receive mom’s admiration and kind words. She knew everyone we knew and loved them all like they were her own little babies.
She then beat the odds once again with a cycle of breast cancer, stroke, breast cancer again and yet another stroke. After all of that she continued with mini strokes yet remained happy to have every day she could with her sons home cooked food and evenings spent with Ryan and Don watching movies.
Carol will be missed and never forgotten as she always left you feeling better than you were before.
