Carole Gray Davidson

Mrs. Davidson, age 79, of Charlotte, NC passed away Sunday August 7, 2011. She was the widow of Shannon Winslow Davidson, Sr., the daughter of the late Juliette Teal and George Herman Gray of Wadesboro and sister to the late Shirley Gray of Wadesboro.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Harry & Bryant Co. “Chapel in the Oaks”, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery will be private.

Carole was a native of Wadesboro, NC and a 1950 Graduate of Wadesboro Senior High School. She attended The Women’s College of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, NC. After rearing her four children, she worked as an executive assistant at J.B. Ivey & Company’s corporate offices where she developed an appreciation for her favorite Feragamo shoes.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Charlotte and was active over the years in the Lydia Circle, Regional AIDS Interfaith network and other ministries of the church.

Carole was involved in many political and service endeavors and was proud to have served as a voting delegate to the 1972 Republican National Convention.

Young at heart, she was a lover of chocolate, stuffed animals, and shell hunts on the beach. She was an avid game player particularly fond of a good game of bridge where she was known to “talk across the table” to the consternation of her opponents.

She is survived by her son Shannon Winslow Davidson, Jr. of Charlotte, son George Gray Davidson and daughter-in-law Mary Catherine Owen Davidson of Minneapolis, MN and Charleston, SC, daughter Judy Welch Osborne and son-in-law David R. Osborne of Simpsonville, SC and son Robert Craft Davidson of Charlotte, NC.
