Carolyn was born March 14, 1934, in Cumberland County, NC, the daughter of Ruth and Currie Council. She graduated from Grays Creek High School. For many years, Carolyn was employed by Celanese Corporation and Mirafi, Inc.
Carolyn was devoted to her family and her church, Little Church on the Lane, where she was an active member for nearly 50 years. She enjoyed reading books and had a keen interest in politics.
Carolyn is survived by her brother, Frank Council (Janice), her children, Craig Bass (Laura), Emily Bass Wilson, and Jenny Bass Brown, as well as grandchildren Thomas Bass, Jonathan Bass, Morgan Brown, and Currie Brown, and great-grandchildren Ella Bass and Harper Bass. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Paula, and spouses Jack Bass, Charley Gaylord, and Joe Sewell.
A memorial service for Carolyn Sewell will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Little Church on the Lane, 522 Moravian Lane, Charlotte.
