

Charlotte - Charles David Haithcock, 80, died January 18, 2017 in the care of Harris Hospice at Novant Health Care following a brief illness. He was born on May 5, 1936 in Chesterfield County, SC, son of the late Nettie Sellers Haithcock and Cecil David Haithcock.
In 1955 Charles graduated from Pageland High School, then began his career in the folding carton business. Charles was President of Atlantic Coast Carton Company. Later, the company became part of Caraustar Industries. He retired from there in May, 2001.
Charles was a member of First Baptist Church Charlotte for over 50 years, where he served in many capacities: Children's Sunday School, assistant treasurer, chairman of deacons, personnel, pastor search and building committees. He was a member of Charlotte City Club, the Good Fellows Club of Charlotte and Mt. Moriah Lodge #58 of Pageland, SC. Charles proudly served his country in the Army National Guard.
Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Sue Mangum Haithcock; his brother, Jimmy Haithcock (Claudia) of Lancaster, SC; nephews, Scott Haithcock of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Jeremy Haithcock of Phoenix, AZ, Kelly Mangum of Asheboro, NC and Michael Mangum (Kelly Sue) of Greenville, SC; nieces, Dana McElmurray (Paul) of N. Augusta, SC Paige Weber of Mesa, AZ, Paisley Wixted (Michael) of Long Beach, CA and Lisa Mangum of Charlotte, NC; great-nephews, Davis and Evan Haithcock of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Corey and Zack Weber of Mesa, AZ, Josh Mangum of Thomasville, NC and John Lake Mangum of Greenville, SC; great-nieces, Meredith, Abby and Emma McElmurray of N. Augusta, SC; sister-in-law, Jean Haithcock of Dana Point, CA; and brother-in-law, John Robert Mangum of Lake Wylie, SC. He is also survived by other family members and many friends.
A service to celebrate Charles' life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 21st, at Harry & Bryant's "Chapel in the Oaks", 500 Providence Road, Charlotte. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at 5:00 pm at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Pageland, SC.
