Charles Locke Winchester was born February 23, 1919 and went to be with his Lord April 6, 2017. He served in WWII on the USS Quincy. His service included firing of the first shells at the invasion of Normandy and the transport of President Roosevelt to the Yalta Conference.
Charles was dedicated in Christian service as trustee at St. John’s United Methodist Church and Pleasant Grove Campground for many decades.
Charles is survived by his children; Cheryl Raiford, Myra Winchester and Chuck Winchester. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Myrtle, daughter Karen Sims, and brother Orin.
Services will be held at St. John’s United Methodist Church on Saturday April 8, 2017 with visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and memorial service from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Flowers are welcome.
