

Charlie Rush Hudson, age 98, died February 13, 2011 at Plantation Estates in Charlotte, NC. He was born October 20, 1912 in Kemper County, Mississippi, the son of Mack M. and Irene Morton Hudson. In 1938, he married Rubye Kynerd and they lived in Meridian, Ms. He and his family were faithful members of East End Methodist Church.
Charlie loved Kemper County, the land, and raising cattle. He worked for the Ice Company and Smith Bakery for about 20 years in Meridian but all he really wanted to do was to get back to Kemper and raise cattle. He did this until he retired at age 90.
After the death of his wife and his own failing health, Charlie moved to Charlotte, NC to be near his daughter and her husband. He adjusted to Charlotte and made friends but he never forgot his Mississippi friends and talked about them and old times often.
Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Rubye Kynerd Hudson, his son Thomas C. Hudson, his parents, three sisters Ruth Thompson, Emma Daniel, and Winona Hudson, and one brother Mack M. Hudson, Jr. He is survived by his daughter and son- in-law Virginia and Rick Rehn of Charlotte, NC and two sisters Martha Irene Lee of Greensboro, NC and Jeanette Smith of Austin, Texas. He also has numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at Plantation Estates, 733 Plantation Estates Dr., Matthews, NC at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, February 19, 2011. Inurnment will be in Meridian, MS.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association, or St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1001 Queens Rd., Charlotte, NC 28207.
