

Constantine Corey died on Sunday, April 3, 2016. Born in Beckley, West Virginia, on August 30, 1924, he attended school there, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School. He then attended Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University), where he completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. This was followed by service in the United States Navy during World War II. After short periods with Westinghouse Air Brake Division, and Pennsylvania Power Company, Mr. Corey joined Cutler-Hammer, Inc. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he met Norma Lee Garretson and they married on June 4, 1950. After a number of years with Cutler-Hammer, he went to work for Matsushita Electric Corporation of America in New York City as Manager of Industrial Sales for North America. In 1968 he was sent to Atlanta, Georgia to establish the Southern Region for the Panasonic Consumer Products Division in an executive sales and management position. In 1971 he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina and started Corey Sales Co., an Independent Manufacturers Representative firm, initially representing Panasonic, and later, other major lines of consumer electronics products, including JVC, Hitachi, Sharp, and others. Mr. Corey retired in 1989, and since then he attended classes at CPCC and UNCC in computers and music. He wrote a number of songs and enjoyed studying and developing his skills in songwriting and music. Mr. Corey is survived by his daughter, Irene Corey of Charlotte, his son, Scott Corey and his wife Tetyana of Charlotte, three grandchildren, Joe Dunn, Alex Corey, and Yuriy Bezzubenko. He is also survived by his sister, Vivian White of Savannah, GA. Mr. Corey was predeceased by his wife, Norma Lee Corey, his son Craig Corey and sisters Kaleel (Edna) Jamison and Margaret Zegeer and his brother Frederick Corey, and parents Cleo and Linda Corey of Beckley, West Virginia. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 9, at 11:00 am at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, North Carolina, where the family will receive friends an hour prior to service.
