Mom was raised on a tobacco farm with her siblings in Horry County, SC as a daughter of sharecroppers, where they grew up poor, but didn’t realize that they were poor, and they were taught about Jesus and loved the Lord.
She graduated from Loris High School in 1955. Shortly after graduating, she married Carl Tyler, and they farmed together and had two sons, Everette and Greg. Not long after that, they decided to move to the big metropolis of Charlotte, NC where she was a homemaker, worked the garden, canned food, quilted, and sewed our clothes.
Mom was very active in her church and taught Sunday School to children and youth for many years and helped lead in visitation on Saturdays. Well, later down the road, the Lord thought this family needed a surprise, so the Lord sent them a baby girl, and her name was Loretta. That surprise ended up being her caretaker for 6 years at her home. We learned from the best because mom was a fabulous fulltime caretaker to our father Carl in his last days at home. Mom was a caregiver to her mother-in-law Mary Tyler for many years while babysitting one of her granddaughters and one of her great nephews at the same time.
Mom remarried to Keith Braswell where she met him while working as a receptionist at a nursing home in Charlotte, where she loved to help and serve. In Keith’s last days, mom was his fulltime caretaker where he was able to remain at home to the end.
Mom was a kind a faithful servant to the Lord Jesus, her family, and anyone around her. You were such a great example of a Christian to your family and friends, and we have peace knowing that you are with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We’ll see you soon momma…..Love you forever and always.
Dalma was preceded in death by her husband's Carl Winston Tyler and Murray Keith Braswell. She is survived by her children Carlton Everette Tyler, Gregory Marr Tyler, Loretta Tyler Wingate; many grand children and great grandchildren.
