Those who knew Da’lyn, even for a moment, knew him for his kind heart and loving spirit. His smile was illuminating and when he left a room you could tell it was a little dimmer.
Da’lyn was deeply in love and committed to music. His connection to music was way more than being “pleasing to the ear” but was as essential to his life as air. Da’lyn’s eclectic taste in music was driven by the spiritual and emotional connection he made to each note. He was a self-taught guitarist with a musical wisdom beyond his years. “Music is a language that doesn’t speak in particular words. It speaks in emotions, and if it’s in the bones, it’s in the bones.” Keith Richards, Rolling Stones
Da’lyn’s commitment to the arts did not end with music. He was also a prolific writer and skilled artist. His eclectic choice in music may only be compared to his love for many types of literature.
Da’lyn was born in Jacksonville, NC and grew up in Charlotte. He is survived by his son Kai Person, his parents Ana and Corey Imes, Father Wayne Person; siblings Jalisa Stevenson, Devin Miller, Tevin Black, Shaniqua Imes, Tre Turner, Sophie Person, and Amari Imes; Uncle Ryan Brooks; Aunts Tia Holder and Ashley Person; Grandparents Jeanette Livengood, Johnny Livengood, Carol Person, and Larry Person; and many other loving family members and friends.
Grandfather William “Larry” Wrenn and Uncle Larry D. Person preceded him in death.
A celebration of Da’lyn’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 24th in the chapel of McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road. His family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
