Danny "Mac" Kimbrell McGinnis

Born March 30, 1952 in Charlotte, he was the son of the late Burton Lee McGinnis and Mary Byrum Marze McGinnis. His childhood was spent in Waxhaw. Following graduation from Parkwood High School, he attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he met his wife Jo Beth of 51 years. He worked in the home loan mortgage business until retirement in 2020.

Mac enjoyed good country food and music, spending time outdoors hiking or doing any and every chore he could to help neighbors, family and friends. He never shied away from cutting down tree branches that were in the way or doing his own upkeep on the house to save money. Morning walks with his dogs were one of the highlights of his day.

He is survived by his wife Jo Beth Privette McGinnis, his sister Dawn Elaine McGinnis, first son Samuel Wade McGinnis, second son Lee Kimbrell McGinnis and his wife Carley Abbott McGinnis and their son Archie Mack McGinnis, in addition to his beloved dog Fletcher.

A service to celebrate Mac’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 20th, 2025 at McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC.
