David "Bumpa" Edwin Beaty

Born October 13, 1955 in Charlotte, he was the son of the late Marvin Beaty and Helen Ketchie Beaty. Following his graduation from Olympic High School he graduated with a BA from UNCC. He owned and operated half a dozen small businesses but most notably was co-owner of The Hob Nail Boot. In 1990 he became an Investment Advisor and eventually had over 100 clients, all of which he considered family.

His biggest joy in life was his family. He adored his wife Ann whom he married on July 21, 1990. He was also a devoted father and grandfather who never missed a game, practice or school activity. An ardent sports fan, David was an original PSL owner of the Carolina Panthers, original season ticket holder for UNC Charlotte 49ers football and frequent attendant to UNC Charlotte 49ers basketball games.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Ann DeNeve Beaty; Daughter Alison Johnston; Son Aaron Kiggins (Jessica). Grandchildren Cassidy Johnston, Thomas Kiggins, Reece Johnston, Addison Johnston, Elliotte Kiggins and Burke Kiggins of Charlotte, NC. Brother George Beaty (Dianne) of Ocean Isle Beach, SC.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Carole Beaty.

A service to celebrate David’s life will be held at 2 pm on January 4th, 2025 in the Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. The family will receive friends following the service.
