

D.A. was born in Paw Creek, Mecklenburg County, on July 17, 1923. His lovely wife of 63 years, Eugenia Ann Harrison, preceded him in death on October 16, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Roy Allen Love and Eldora Cox Love, brothers Craig Sinclair Love and Fred Lee Love, and great-grandson Joshua Shane Collins.
He is survived by his three children, daughter Terrie Love Collins and husband Ronnie of Charlotte, son David Wayne Love and wife Rhonda of Huntersville, daughter Debbie Love Stevens and husband Ron of Sherrills Ford, beloved grandchildren Ronald Brian Collins and wife Amy, Heather Collins Saylor, Robyn Love Fulton and husband Connor, Courtney Love Baker and husband Ryan, Katie Irene Hedden, April Hedden Johnson and husband Jon, and Mackenzie Grace Stevens; great grandchildren Kimsey Collins, Finley Fulton, Porter Fulton, Payton Baker, and Grayson Baker. Also surviving are Mr. Love’s step-grandchildren Joseph Adams and wife Kayla, Aaron Adams, Samuel Adams and step-great grandson Kayden Adams.
D.A. was a graduate of the 1941 class of Paw Creek High School and a member of Paw Creek Presbyterian Church for 80 years. He retired from Southern Bell in 1982 with 41 years of service as Associate Staff Manager and was also a member of the Telecom Pioneers. Mr. Love served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Technician Fifth Grade with Headquarters Company 137th Infantry, including The Battle of The Bulge, and was the recipient of the American Theater Campaign Medal, Victory Medal, EAMET Campaign Medal with three bronze service stars and a Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Dune Cats and one of his greatest joys was being “Santa Claus” for the Shriners for 30 years. He loved the game of baseball and golf, but most of all, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 19, from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Service Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 20, at 11:00 am at Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, 7400 Mount Holly Road, Charlotte, NC 28214. Burial will be immediately following the service at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208.
