David was the beloved husband of Bonnie. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past August.
David graduated from Collingdale High School and earned his undergraduate degree from Millersville State College. Upon graduation he taught industrial arts at Downingtown Junior High while pursuing his master’s degree at Temple University. David went on to earn a Doctor of Education at Penn State University. Upon graduation David spent one year as principal of Tyrone High School before accepting the position as principal at Central Bucks High School in Doylestown, PA in 1968. During his years at Central Bucks School District, he served as principal at CB West, Director of Secondary Instruction, principal at CB East, and principal at Unami Junior High until his retirement in 2000. He was brought back to serve as interim house principal at CB South for a semester. He was wholly invested in the students, teachers, and school communities he served, attending concerts, plays, athletic contests, and many other school related activities. He was passionate about teaching teachers how to be the best educators they could be and dedicated his career to improving the overall experience of all students.
David’s faith in the accomplished work of Jesus Christ impacted every aspect of his life, his work, his marriage, and family and even the way he spent his time and money. David was an active member of First Baptist Church, Doylestown (now Living Hope, Doylestown) for 55 years where he served on the board of elders and the missions committee.
David is survived by his wife Bonnie, son David (Kim), daughter Carolyn (David) and grandchildren, Madison, Annika, Jonathan, Nicolas, and Noah. He was reunited in heaven with his parents, Paul M. Spahr and Ethel B. Spahr and younger brother Daniel, older sister Phyllis Beatty, and older brother Paul H. Spahr.
