Born on March 9th, 1959 to Jeannette and John O’Hare in M.T. Kisco, New York, Dean was the beloved brother to Scott (wife Janet), Kurt (wife Donna), and Mary (wife Trish). He excelled academically, beginning with his graduation from The State University of New York at Oneonta and then progressing to his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Life University in Georgia. It was there that he met his former wife, Debbie, and settled down in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they lovingly raised their four children: Erin (fiancé Tyler Held, son Mason Held), Erica (fiancé Matthew Immel), Ryan (SGT- U.S. army) and Emily. A successful businessman, Dean founded Southern States Chiropractic in 1988, which quickly became one of the top chiropractic offices in the city due to his love of the craft. Despite his many accomplishments in this life, he always said his greatest was being a father.
Dean lived a life of passion as seen through his numerous, diverse avocations. He had a deep appreciation for music, exemplified by his fifteen years of practicing the cello and his yearly patronage to the Charlotte Symphony. His aptitude for martial arts began with a black belt in karate, followed by years of training in stick fighting, complete with the honor of becoming one of the original USA Balintawak Fully Qualified Instructors. Known as an epicurean by many of his friends, Dean’s love of fine food and wine was a staple in his life and one in which he loved sharing with others. This zeal for the finer things in life coupled with his ardor for adventure made Dean into an avid world traveler. From foie gras in France to log cabins in the Smoky Mountains, he loved to experience all this world had to offer. When he wasn’t hosting elaborate dinner parties, he enjoyed fly fishing with his father, brother and son.
Dean exemplified what it means to live life to the fullest. A man of passion, generosity and endless love for people; he left behind a beautiful legacy that will not be forgotten. He will live on in the hearts of his dearest friends, bestie (Retina Williamson), family and those he impacted.
