Dianna Scola (nee Yedinak), 64, passed away Monday, February 9, 2026, after a lengthy battle with dementia and aphasia. She was in the company of her family and amazing caregivers as she departed this life.
Dianna was born in Chicago, IL, on March 1, 1961, to Dorothy Yedinak (nee Sheber) and the late Michael Yedinak. She was the third of their four children.
Dianna attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School and graduated from Good Counsel High School before earning her Bachelor’s degree in 1984 from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale. After moving to Charlotte, NC, in 1987 and raising her family, Dianna dedicated more than ten years to educating children at Junior Achievement of the Central Carolinas, first as a program facilitator and later as a full-time administrator.
Dianna was a loving, devoted mother and wife who rarely missed a play, sporting event, or musical performance for her children. She was an active Scout leader, Faith Formation teacher, and community member. She was a parishioner at St. Matthew Catholic Church throughout her nearly four decades in Charlotte.
Dianna was highly intelligent, deeply creative, and blessed with a curious, artistic mind. In addition to frequent assistance with school art projects, this gift found expression in Dianna’s talent for writing stories and poetry. Her children fondly remember many Easter basket riddles and letters from Santa that accompanied those holidays each year. She was also an avid reader and could often be found rocking in her favorite chair with a novel in her hands.
Dianna is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Dan; her four children, Matthew Scola of Spring Lake, NC, Christopher, Kaitlyn, and David Scola, all of Charlotte, NC; her three grandsons, Rowan, Conor, and Miles Scola, all of Spring Lake, NC; her brothers, Robert Yedinak (Alice Bendig) of Palatine, IL, and Mark Yedinak (Cary) of Huntley, IL; her mother, Dorothy Yedinak of Gurnee, IL; her aunt Geraldine Murrow of Lincolnshire, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Majewski (nee Yedinak), and her father, Michael Yedinak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19th, 2026 in the chapel of St. Matthew Catholic Church - 8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy, Charlotte, NC, 28277.
The family have elected not to hold a wake or vigil prior to the Mass; however, guests are welcome to gather in the St. Matthew Chapel to celebrate Dianna’s memory prior to the service.
