Dolores Ruland

Born on October 14, 1938, Dolores graduated from Arlington High School in New York in 1956 and continued on to receive her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from State University of New York at Cobleskill.

De married Benjamin Ruland III (deceased) in 1959 at the Baptist Church in Cobleskill, NY and had four children.

De worked for 20 years at Schoharie County Head Start and many years at RSS, Inc. of Schoharie County. Actively involved in the community, De lived in Cobleskill for over 50 years.

Those who knew her, remember her warmth and kindness and her love of family.

Grandma Dede is adored by her 8 grandchildren who will always remember playing cards and games with her.

De is predeceased by her oldest son, Benjamin Ruland IV (1976) of Cobleskill. She is survived by her daughter Kari Ruland VanDerwerken of Charlotte NC (husband Ken VanDerwerken), her son Tony Ruland of Charlotte, NC (wife Shonda Ruland) and daughter Kim Ruland Norgren of Norfolk MA (husband Nils Norgren). She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, Michelle VanDerwerken age 33, KJ VanDerwerken age 28 both of Charlotte NC. Nick Norgren, 18, Jack Norgren, 17, Chris Norgren, 15, and Emme Norgren 12 all of Norfolk MA. And Erin Gray, 19 and Ben Ruland, 7 of Charlotte NC. De is also survived by her brother Jim Cook of Florida (wife Vicki Cook) and her sister Boni Cook Blyth of Trenton, ME.
