

Donald Lewis Sellers, 78, of Charlotte, NC died at his residence September 4, 2015 at 6:43 p.m. surrounded by his loving family and friends. Donald fought a courageous 3 1/2 year battle with cancer. He persevered through many treatments; including an experimental trial at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD, never complaining; just enduring like a warrior.
Donald was born in Ellenboro, NC, April 3, 1937. Though he grew up in a small town, he had big dreams. At age 17, he joined the Navy; forever proud to serve his beloved country. As a self educated entrepreneur he owned and operated several successful businesses including Cosmopolitan Health Spa and Providence Landscape. His strong work ethic, charismatic spirit and endless optimism left indelible marks in us all. Thank you husband, father, grandfather and above all hero. We love you.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Lee Sellers, daughter Melanie Ann Sellers, sister Jean Manley and both parents. He is survived by his daughters Abigail Lee Mullis of Matthews, NC, and Jody Carol Johnson and her husband Anton of West Palm Beach, FL; 4 grandchildren Dana Abbott and her husband Buddy, Donnie Mullis, Aiden and Anya Johnson and 1st great-grandchild Baby Abbott due February, 2016.
Memorial Services will be held at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC, 28210, Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. immediately followed by a Visitation Reception.
Memorials in his honor can be sent to The National Institute of Health, Cancer Clinical Trials.
