Doris was born in Bessemer City, NC on April, 26, 1928 to the late Philas Jerome Burris and Ora Ann Bradley.
She is survived by her loving husband, Coy A. Shue of 75 years. They met at a square dance at Fireman's Hall. Coy was heard to say that he married "an angel" and if you knew Doris she really was an angel. She is also survived by her sons Ron A. Shue (Toni), Rob I. Shue (Joy), grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many "adopted" grandchildren.
Doris was known for her amazing heart and her love for everyone. She always accepted you for who you were and where you were at in life! She was filled with a wealth of knowledge & wisdom that she learned from her many life experiences. She loved square dancing, music and traveling with the Model A Ford club. She & Coy traveled to Hawaii twice, Alaska, The Panama Canal & Canada. In her younger years she was a den mother with the Boy Scouts and loved babies & children. She spoke fondly of her Sunday School class and how close they all were to each other.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Charlotte and a special thank you to Brenda Shepherd & Melissa Buchanan who helped care & love on Doris and supported Doris & Coy during these more difficult times.
