Dorothy Parker Saunders

Mrs. Dorothy Parker Saunders 93, of Charlotte, died at Brian Center of Charlotte July 9th, 2012. Dorothy was born November 2, 1918, a daughter of the late Curtis Cleveland and Minerva Marsaline Wilson. She graduated from Blacksburg High School and then attended and graduated from Berea College in Kentucky with a degree in education. She retired from Christ Episcopal Church as secretary to the Rector after 32 years of service. Her first husband Arthur Brandon Parker preceded her in death in 1971. Her second husband, William Lewis Saunders preceded her in death in 1999. Her only sister, Ruby Wilson Stover preceded her in death in 2005. Survivors include one son, Byron Arthur Parker and his wife Cathy of Matthews, NC. Two step sons, William L. Saunders of Charlotte, NC and Robert G. Saunders and wife Susan of Statesville, NC. A step daughter Tamara S. Huggett and her husband John of Travelers Rest, SC; 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and very special niece and nephew, Virginia Anne and Glen Owen of Mooresville, NC. A graveside service for Mrs. Saunders will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, Thursday, July 12 at 2P.M.. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd.
