Dorothy O. Willocks

Dorothy Overcash Willocks, 97, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2023 in her home. Born November 17, 1925 in Charlotte, she was the daughter of Parks H. and Mattie L. (Simpson) Overcash. She married Robert Leroy Willocks, Sr. on August 11, 1946 and together, they shared 47 years of marriage before his passing.

Dorothy was a graduate of Derita High School, Class of 1942. She was a charter member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church where she served in numerous capacities over the years.

She was a proud member of the Charlotte Senior Citizens Center where she competed in the Senior Olympics. She won medals in bowling and croquet. She was also member of the competing senior cheerleading squad.

An avid reader, Dorothy enjoyed crochet, cruising, visiting the beach with family and having Sunday dinner with her family weekly.

Survivors include her sons, Bobby Jr., Dale (Sandra) and David (Teresa) Willocks; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Sandra Lee; grandson, Michael David Willocks; 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Funeral Service 11:00 AM Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte. Visitation 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 7845 Little Ave, Charlotte, NC 28226.
